CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 

All resident and non-resident agents and brokers are required to meet the continuing education requirements for Arkansas, although non-residents are exempt if their state has mandatory continuing education law.

Your continuing education summary is due annually at your license renewal, along with a $ 10 filing fee.
The Insurance Departments computer system will not allow the license to renew if the CE has been filed. There is no grace period and extension on requirements are granted only where there has been serious illness (you the agent or close family members). If you request an extension you must provide a written statement, and attach documentation from your doctor for the insurance department to review.
Type of License Minimum C.E. Requirement 
Property & Casualty 8 hours every year to include 1 hour of an credited Ethics course
Life and Health 8 hours every year to include 1 hour of an credited Ethics course
Property & Casualty / Life & Health 10 hours every year (dual Licensed) to include 1 hour of an credited Ethics course
This Rule and Regulation shall not apply to the following individuals:
1. Persons holding licenses for which an examination is not required.
2. Adjusters and limited adjusters and consultants.
3. Any limited or restricted license the Commission may exempt.
4. Any person who is at least sixty (60) years of age.
5. Any Person who has held a license as an agent, solicitor, consultant or broker for a period of at least fifteen (15) consecutive years.
6. Third-party administrators who do not solicit business.
7. Non-resident agents, non-resident consultants or brokers.
8. Licensed insurance consultants for life, disability, property or casualty insurance, or for other lines of insurance.
9. Nonresident agents and brokers in the first full year of resident licensing following the year after a change in the state of domicile or residency to the State of Arkansas; but thereafter annually or otherwise in accordance with insurance continuing education laws, and rules and regulations of the commissioner.
